Principles of Lean can be used in manufacturing, either to reduce the environmental impact of existing processes, or to design new processes, in such a way that their impact are minimised from day one.
1) Lean brings Change: Lean produces operational and cultural environment that are very much conducive to waste minimization and pollution prevention.
2) Lean results in control and waste management.
3) Less materials are used in Lean manufacturing, there by there are less scraps, and reduced water and energy used and decreased amount of raw materials used
4) Lean design pre-empts waste management, which are important, since waste costs carbon and brings loss of time and money.
5) Lean design helps in waste management, since there are hardly any waste, and there by it creates cleaner processes and helps reduce carbon footprint.
6) Lean design are flexible and can be incorporated in any sectors and industry.
Applying principles of Lean manufacturing can see better green management and reduction in carbon foot print.
